Knights of Columbus is an international organization of Catholic men called to be stewards of the Church. Their work in the church is in fellowship with the Pastor and parish and in participation with solemn celebrations of the Liturgy.
The Blessed Sacrament Council is very active in various projects: Tootsie Roll Drive, which benefits the mentally handicapped, Spelling Bee, and the Parish Golf Outing which helps support the needy in the community. Additionally, the Council runs the major Lenten Friday Fish Fry, supporting Blessed Sacrament. Knights on Bikes also supports this council in fund raising and charitable contributions.
Meetings are held the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament's St. Edwards' Hall.
The Grand Knight serves for three years.

The history of the Knights of Columbus began in 1882, by its founder Venerable Michael J. McGivney (1852-1890) in New Haven, CT, he wanted the Knights to embrace the rosary as a spiritual weapon. In a certain sense, the Knights of Columbus are also Knights of Mary. The spiritual sword is part of their initiation ceremony: every Knight is given a rosary and makes a promise to pray it as often as he is able.
This information is taken from the book by Donald H. Calloway, MIC entitled, "Champions of the Rosary."
